We’ve all heard someone say that they can’t be successful because the odds are stacked against them. Whether those odds are growing up poor, coming from a single-parent household, living in high-crime areas or any other environmental issues, they can affect how we see success. The same can actually be said for those on the opposite end of spectrum, who are born into money, come from loving families and have never seen a crime committed a day in their life.
Does it help to have money and come from a positive and loving environment? Sure it does, but it doesn’t guarantee success. No matter your environment, you’ll come across people who are not successful and want to pass that blame onto someone else. We’ve seen people from the hood make it out, and we’ve seen people from wealthy families end up in jail. But one thing that all successful people have in common is that they have made the right decisions, and are not defined by their environment.
“I am not a product of my circumstances. I am a product of my decisions.”
