Spending the last 17 years in destination marketing, I’ve had success in creating and leading destination marketing efforts using non-traditional methods. These non-traditional methods helped to put the tourism offices of Louisville, KY and Lexington, KY in the spotlight. Y’all remember this famous funny line? It’s one of the funniest pick-up lines used, but one that serves as the inspiration for this next idea.
As I’ve said before, and will always say… In destination marketing, it is imperative that destinations know who they are and who they aren’t. Once you understand that, you can explore unique brand activations and ideas that garner media attention and put your destination in the news.
The Big Idea: “Volunteer for Love”
Welcome to the world’s newest dating show with a travel & tourism twist. Meet an eligible bachelor who isn’t just looking for love; he’s on a journey across the stunning state of Tennessee. From the bustling streets of Nashville to the serene beauty of the Smoky Mountains, each episode showcases the unique charm and endless adventures that Tennessee has to offer. Get ready to fall in love with Tennessee as our bachelor searches for his soulmate in the Volunteer State.
Episode 1: Nashville – The Heartbeat of Music and Romance
Our journey begins in Nashville, the Music City. Known for its vibrant nightlife and rich musical heritage, Nashville sets the perfect stage for romance. What do you think? Obviously, there are lots of attractions and activities that can be added or replaced in each city based on the bachelor and the audience. Again, it’s just an idea, but one that will help Tennessee capture the hearts of viewers everywhere.
